Don's Seafood & Steakhouse
Established in 1934 by Don L. Landry of Lafayette, Louisiana, Don’s Seafood and Steakhouse began in the heart of downtown Lafayette as the humble Don’s Beer Parlor, specializing in Louisiana Gulf seafood dishes. Throughout the years, the Landrys have continued to serve fine Cajun cuisine and Don’s Seafood and Steakhouse Inc. has expanded across Louisiana and into Texas.
Known affectionately to Lafayette natives as Don’s Downtown, the Original Don’s Seafood and Steakhouse owner Rocky Landry is carrying on the tradition of hospitality into the third generation. Don’s still operates as a family restaurant and many of the employees have been there for over 30 years. Rocky has also carried on the tradition of honoring loyal past employees. For example, while you’re there, visit the legendary Frenchie’s Room. Frenchie was a long-time employee of the Landry’s as a butcher in brother Bill’s adjoining grocery store.
When the Landry’s decided to expand the restaurant into Bill’s grocery, they kept Frenchie on as a matire’d, then as a waiter. Dedicated to serving only the freshest local Louisiana seafood and steaks, Don’s offers wild blue channel catfish, caught in the Atchafalya Basin, Gulf red snapper, jumbo white shrimp and Grand Isle oysters.
